Author Guidelines

Journal of Rock and Environmental Magnetism welcomes the submission of high-quality original research articles, reviews, and short communications that align with the journal’s aim and scope. The following guide provides essential instructions for preparing and submitting manuscripts.

Manuscript Types

  • Original Research Articles: Full-length research papers reporting novel findings (6,000–8,000 words).
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive and critical reviews of the current state of research (6,000–10,000 words).
  • Short Communications: Brief reports of significant findings (2,000–3,000 words).

Submission Process

Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal's Online Journal System (OJS). Ensure all author details and manuscript information are accurately provided during the submission process. Please register or log in at https://jrem.io/index.php/prem to submit.

General Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English. Manuscripts must include the following sections:

  • Title Page:
    • Title of the manuscript (concise and informative)
    • Full names and affiliations of all authors
    • Corresponding author’s contact details (email and phone number)
  • Abstract:
    A structured abstract (150–250 words) summarizing the research aims, methods, results, and conclusion.
  • Keywords:
    Provide 4–6 keywords that represent the content of your manuscript.
  • Main Body:
    Introduction: Clearly state the problem, objectives, and relevance of the research.
    Materials and Methods: Provide sufficient details for reproducibility.
    Results and Discussion: Present findings and interpret them in the context of existing knowledge.
    Conclusions: Summarize key findings and suggest future research directions.
    Acknowledgments: Acknowledge funding sources, contributions, and collaborators who are not listed as authors.
    References: Use a standardized referencing APA style. All citations in the text must be listed in the reference section.

Upon acceptance, authors are required to sign a copyright transfer agreement. The Journal of Rock and Environmental Magnetism follows an open-access model, allowing readers free access to published articles. Authors may be subject to publication fees, depending on the journal’s policy.

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The manuscript follows the journal's formatting and structure.
  • All co-authors have approved the submission.
  • A cover letter is attached explaining the importance of the work and confirming that it has not been submitted elsewhere.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • Figures, tables, and supplementary material (if any) are included and properly referenced.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets, and other material provided with this submission.
